A Polish priest and mathematician has won the world's richest academic prize for work that shows how maths can offer circumstantial evidence of God's existence. Professor Michael Heller, 72, a pioneering cosmologist and philosopher specializing in mathematics and metaphysics, received the £ 820,000 prize yesterday in New York, The Times wrote.

His theories not only contain the proof of the existence of God, but also introduce doubt about the material existence of the world around us. He specializes in complex formulae that make it possible to explain everything, even chance, through mathematical calculation.

Previously, academics have come to the conclusion that an error in translation of the Bible is reaping by the people thousands of years. The study's author, Professor Ellen van Wolde, a researcher of the Old Testament, argues that the words "In the beginning God created the Heaven and the Earth" are not the correct translation from the ancient Hebrew.

She assures that she has been able to perform a textual analysis which shows: the authors of the Bible had never even tried to suggest that the Earth already existed, but the Creator only populated it with people and animals.

54-year-old Van Wolde, who defended her dissertation on the subject in Radboud University in the Netherlands, said that she had re-examined the original text on ancient Hebrew and put it in the context of the Bible as a whole.

She stated that the Hebraic verb "bara", which is used in the first sentence of the book "Genesis", means not "create", but "separate spatially".

Henceforth, the first sentence should be understood as "In the beginning God separated the Heaven and the Earth".

Thus, without knowing themselves the Christian priests and researchers have confirmed the truth of the Quran in which Allah clearly stated:

"Have those who disbelieved not considered that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity, and We separated them..."
